COMPETITION INFORMATION
The 3rd Annual Mariachi Idol contest is a vocal competition in which eligible contestants compete to become La Fuente Restaurant‘s “Mariachi Idol 2011.” Each contestant will compete with songs in mariachi style and will be accompanied by Mariachi Estrellas de la Fuente. Only six performers will be scheduled each week, in order of sign-up and date preference.
Based on the popular TV show, Mariachi Idol will consist of a panel of three credible judges to offer their critique and will score the contestants based on specific criteria previously agreed upon by the Committee for Planning. After the First Round, judges' scores will be added and the top three contestants will advance to the Second Round after which, the audience will choose that night’s first place winner, by show of applause, and the judges will announce the second place winner..
After the ten finalists have been selected, each will compete in the Grand Finale on August 10, 2011 for the title of “Mariachi Idol 2011”, a First Place cash prize, official trophy and his/her name permanently engraved on La Fuente Restaurant’s Mariachi Idol plaque (to be placed in a prominent area in the restaurant). Second and Third Place prizes will also be rewarded.
On the nights of the competition, La Fuente Restaurant will briefly close its doors at 5:00 p.m. for set up and will re-open at 6:00 p.m. with the competition beginning at 7:00 p.m. During these Special Hours, the restaurant will not be offering menu items and invite its guests to enjoy an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet with soft drink and tax included for the price of $15.00. For those not wishing to eat, La Fuente Restaurant will offer its lounge and bar to guests aged 21 and over (I.D. required) to enjoy specials on alcoholic beverages. An entry charge of $10.00 includes first domestic beer, house margarita, or well drink “On-the-House.” Other drink specials will be offered to all guests of legal drinking age.
