La Fuente’s Solo Guitarist ~ Ruben Allard

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening La Fuente’s guests are entertained by guitarist Ruben Allard.  A self taught musician, Ruben has been playing professionally for the past 25 years and he has known owner Carlos Portillo for over 20 years!

If you ask Ruben to describe his musical style, he will smile and say: “It is a little bit of everything…perhaps bohemian, not just ranchero or bolero, I try to feel my audience, but most of all, I have to like the song I am playing.”  So don’t be surprised if during a set Ruben’s performance includes: Guantanamera, Yesterday, Spanish Harlem, Have You Ever Seen the Rain, Spanish Eyes, South of the Border, Cotton Fields Back Home, Bésame Mucho, La Malagueña, and the list goes on.   

Originally from the Mexican state of Sonora, Ruben was educated in Ensenada, Baja California. He came to the United States as a young man. Music is his love and his passion. He is proud to say that he continues to learn new songs every day.
